Wood Type card set

The collection of seven 4 x 7.5 inch cards comes in a mylar enclosure. Out of an edition of seventy-five sets, sixty-five are available for purchase.

Above are slides taken as the Wood Type Sampler title cards were press numbered for the edition of seventy-five. After printing the colophon (text below) and the phrase "__ of 75" in blue ink, we individually printed each number of the edition in red. The wood type is 15 line French Antique.

COLOPHON: Wood Type Sampler specimens were produced by students & staff at Silver Buckle Press, University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries. Over one hundred of each card were printed (numbers varied) and the extras were given to press visitors. Seventy-five complete sets of six type specimens plus the title card were made. Kathleen O' Connell, Melissa Cooke, Dennis Peterson, & Sarah Noreen, directed by Tracy Honn, worked on the project.

Some of the wood types in the Silver Buckle Press collection were made by the Hamilton Manufacturing Company in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. You can learn more about wood type by visiting The Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum.
